As 2009 draws to a close, everyone is starting to put the year on review. Aside from 2009 being the triumphant year for Barack Obama and the economy seeing slow recovery after an expeditious downfall, 2009 also marks the passing of many great personalities, including the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, right before he was about to embark on his tour.

A blitz of Michael Jackson tribute items ranging from apparel to new music and film had been released to commemorate the life of one of the greatest entertainers in history.


To draw everything to a close, colette has released an exclusive tome, The Official Michael Jackson Opus (Edition Kraken), which is also the only book approved by Michael Jackson developed during his life time.
The opus spans a hefty 400 pages, detailing unpublished photographs from Michael Jackson’s personal archives, quotes, anecdotes from the industry leaders and artwork by Nate Giorgio who is a long time collaborator and close friend of the King. The opus is bound beautifully in an opulent black leather and enclosed in a red clam shell case, inspired by colors and aesthetics of the King.

The most intricate are the BK Diamond College Rings that come in 18k gold, silver and black with each detailed with a large black diamond. 18k gold version is made to order while the other colorways are available as mass production. Russian industrial designer Tanya Yakoleva provides us with this beautiful hinged table called, ‘Woodtable’. With design cues taken from mid-century furniture, this table combines aesthetic value with storage functionality. Combine it with other wooden pieces to create an organic feel, or add other contemporary pieces for a modern feel.

All told, it’s a great piece that would make a great centerpiece for any living room or den.

French helmet producer Les Ateliers Ruby have been at the forefront of innovative designs on helmets with the Pavillon being the flagship model that have led the brand to wear it is today. A basic open face helmet is decorated with custom designs unlike no other seen on the current market fusing good design with eye catching styles and of course quality.

This is by far one of the most radical design put out by Les Ateliers Ruby which celebrates the American pop culture icon Sponge Bob for his 10 year anniversary. The face of Sponge Bob transcends nicely onto the helmet which would definitely attract attention and probably provide some laughs for the motorists behind the wearer as Sponge Bob is looking directly behind with his signature smile. There are only 200 of these limited versions made in XS to XXL sizes.

The Wheel can store energy every time the rider puts on the brakes, and then give that power back to provide a boost when riding uphill or to add a burst of speed in traffic. It also maps pollution levels, traffic congestion, and road conditions in real-time.
