The Pop Culture Vader Helmets

This summer, “The Vader Project launches the final chapter of its four-year art odyssey. The iconic collection features 100 Darth Vader Helmets re-imagined by today’s most notable artists. Completing its epic world tour, The Vader Project returns to Los Angeles in June for a special ten-day exhibition in Hollywood as a preview to the upcoming Freeman’s Auction in Philadelphia.”[1]

Notes about project (from the official PR):
For this unique project, each artist customized a 1:1 scale authentic prop replica of the actual Darth Vader helmet featured in the STAR WARS™ films. Notable artists involved with the project include: Shag, Peter Kuper, Jermaine Rogers, Gary Baseman, BXH, Tim Biskup, The Pizz, Dalek, Paul Frank, Ron English, Jeff Soto, Michelle Valigura, Frank Kozik, Plasticgod, Simone Legno – Tokidoki, Bill McMullen, Secret Base, Joe Ledbetter, Alex Pardee, Suckadelic, Cameron Tiede, Mister Cartoon, Marc Ecko, and Amanda Visell.

Italian couturier Versace has made a foray into home fashion with the release of its Home Collection. The big things here are bright colors, wild prints, and colorful, unique designs. Available in Versace stores starting in the fourth quarter of 2010.

House in Kodaira by Suppose Design Office

Japan-based Suppose Design Office designed this residential project with a unique garden at the front of the house.

The building is located in a residential area in Kodaira-shi, Tokyo. As the client's demands, the architects were building a garden in front of the house to separate the public area and the private building. To create a garden semi private, which could connect outside and inside space gradually, a tent structure was used as a partition to separate the areas.

The sliding doors at the living room, which is placed next to the green area, can connect the two areas, the inside of the house and the outside area, as one space. The tent could offer comfortable green space and also private rooms, which could also open to the outside.

Flexible - Expandable Honeycomb Furniture

Created by Chishen Chiu, a Taiwanese furniture designer, the Flexiblelove is furniture that made from recycled cardboard and post-industrial wood waste, and features a unique honeycomb construction allowing each piece to be stretched to various lengths and shapes.

This seating could hold from one to as many as sixteen individuals; changing length and shape with a simple pull at each end.

Working alongside two of the finest names in the world of designer fashion, Mercedes-Benz looked towards famed fashion designer Gareth Pugh as well as equally renowned fashion photograph Nick Knight for an upcoming ad campaign, featuring Mercedes-Benz’s new SLS AMG.

Along with model Julia Stegner, both creatives develop an interesting campaign for the German car maker, offering their own unique touches to the projects.
