Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama is known for her large scale paintings and installations involving repetition, pattern and accumulation, especially her iconic adaptations of polka dots. As luxury automaker, Audi, celebrates its centennial birthday,
Audi has sought out Kusama to create a special piece for the commemorative exhibition. Adapting her famed dots in red and white (auspicious, celebratory colors in Japanese tradition) to cover the entire installation space which includes a white Audi R8, Yayoi Kusama aims to translate a sense of energy and life through her work for Audi.
This collaboration titled “The Audi Spirit Of A Water Droplet Covered Future” fuses’ Audi’s passion and determination to lead by technology (Vorsprung durch Technik) with Kusama’s vision for progression and innovation. The exhibition will be held at Audi Forum Tokyo from Dec. 12 to Jan. 5 next year.
