Paul Smith Fall/Winter 2010 Collection
The Paul Smith Fall/Winter 2010 collection continues the labels exploration of quirky and elegant British menswear that the blogs love to ignore. Perhaps it is the label’s niche status outside the UK or Japan, or maybe the fact that you could pretty much wear everything he sends down the runway, but for some reason his collections don’t seem to cause as big an online stir as some of his high fashion counterparts.
An ex-mod, Smith has an intimate understanding of how the average man wants to dress, timelessly fashionable and masculine without being boring he has diversified his range to include diffusion lines for all ages, price ranges and tastes in the market, however its his mainline that remains the creative high point each season.
The Fall/Winter show features a well (normal) proportioned and laidback collection that mixes a palette of brighter colours, flamboyant touches and luxe materials to produce a fun series of outfits, which seem to have a more street focused aesthetic compared to hos recent country gent inspired looks. It may not be as avant garde as some of the headline grabbers, but it’s certainly a whole lot more wearable.
