The piano table

The piano table by Georg Bohle is apt for urban settings where scarcity of physical space often hinders the pursuit of finer interests. Linear in design, the piano table is a world apart from its typical cumbersome arrangement.

Created from oak wood, it is functionally designed to serve both as dining table and as an electric piano. Raising the wooden tablet reveals the piano keys, whereas laying down the same conceals the melodious aspect to offer a plain wooden surface. The piano table’s captivating neat clear lines, certain buoancy and plain polished appearance is destined to lend elegance and grace to its surroundings.

Its estimated price is $6000.

Martin Pitonak ‘Origami’ Table

Furniture designer Martin Pinotak’s ‘Origami’ table represents a wonderful combination of intricate design and functionality; combining the clean, dynamic lines of the tables base with a solid glass top make this piece a usable work of art.

Working out of Toronto, Canada, Pinotak’s work often exemplifies high design with an emphasis on maintaining the usefulness of a given piece. ‘Origami’ achieves this level of practicality without sacrificing the creative statements it makes; a piece of furniture that combines minimalist design with maximum function.

Chiara Goose ‘Cardboard Luggage’

Although it might not survive the abuse of your local airport luggage handler, Chiara Goose’s ‘Cardboard Luggage’ remains a stylish and playful piece that any weekend warrior can appreciate. Using surprisingly sturdy double-corrugated cardboard, metal rivets, and cotton cording, this piece has a level of craftsmanship and attention to detail that speak to both its usefulness and functional design.

The luggage itself ‘unpacks,’ forming a standing shelving unit to organize your various possessions, making the days of digging into the depths of your bag a thing of the past. Chiara Goose’s ‘Cardboard Luggage’ shows that just because your working in recyclable materials, doesn’t mean you have to recycle creative design.

Lego Crawler Town

"Crawler town roams the barren wastes of a post steam-punk world after cataclysmic climate change do to excessive coal use. Several such cities exist but Crawler town is the most popular due to the Aero 500 hydrogen fuel cell Air races that are held. Many people travel the wastes to Crawler town for vacation and to enjoy rare luxuries like Pizza, fresh vegetables and Beer. Travelling the wastes in search of minerals and aquifers ( vital for survival) the mobility of the city keeps it away from the vicious sand storms of the wastes.

Details about the MOC - I really enjoyed building this one! Its started out as going to be a steam-punk land dreadnought/battleship but evolved into a roaming city where self sustainability and Eco efficiency became the theme. I ended up calling it "Eco-punk" due to its Steamy inspired roots. Several playable features include functional powered treads for movement , full suspension and front and rear steering. Working crane, hanger slides for planes and lift from upper and lowers levels. "

Ralph Lauren Black Label Escape Nylon Jacket

Obviously, Ralph Lauren needs no introduction. He’s built an empire in his brand that is almost beyond compare with over $5 billion in estimated revenues for 2009 and a personal fortune estimated near $2.8 billion. In its over 40-year existence, he’s seen his brand, and all of its various offshoots, woven through a myriad of cultures, in and out of vogue, enough to fill far, far more space than we have here.

He created his Black Label brand (positioned just below the Purple Label) in 2005 to cater to the modern man with slimmer silhouettes, higher armholes, and fresh materials. Born directly from these ideals, his Escape nylon M65-style jacket caught our eye. It’s “Gehry Grey” (read: silver) weather-resistant main is perfectly offset by the medium brown leather tab details at the collar and sleeves.

It also has a two-way front zip with leather tab leading to a point collar that actually folds into a standing collar using the snap closure. It’s the perfect marriage of construction and detail, which is what Ralph Lauren, at his best, is really all about.
