Roll it Experimental Housing

Roll It is a cool experimental house, resulted from the collaboration among different institutes within the University of Karlsruhe. This cyclindrical design is a modular prototype that provides flexible space within a minimum housing unit. Including three functional sections: a bed and table in section, an exercise cylinder, and a kitchen with a sink.

The Surtur Chair by Emilia Borgthor

At ICFF 2010 in New York, Emilia Borgthor exhibited her Surtur Chair as part of the ICFF Studio for young designers to show their prototypes.

From the designer:

SURTUR is the name of the fire god in Norse mythology.  In 1963 the island of Surtsey was created in a volcanic eruption that started below sea level. Surtsey is now on the World Heritage list, UNESCO because of it’s values and uniqueness.

The inspiration came from this island and is thought of being a little habitat where the user can move around and  adjust to their activites. The human body is made for motion and it is natural to move. In addition to the physical  factors there are dynamics of space that affect people and therefore has to be concluded in the design. The act of sitting is viewed as a static in nature. Far from the truth, it involves almost continuous repositioning in order to respond  to the demands of the various activities. How each individual relaxes is unique but the ergonomics don’t change. Surtur is a new innovative chair with ergonomics in mind.

Smite

Smite was invented to meet the needs of urban passengers. To substitute substances of concern with safer alternatives, the team behind Smite set out to create a vehicle that encapsulated all of that.

It looks like Fritz Fendt cabins Roller but it is not German or from the 1950s, but Swedish and a new concept vehicle. Smits called the charming three-wheeled vehicle,Smits is the company behind Vehiconomics and they believe that the vehicle will only be about. 130 kg will draw less than 0.2 liters of gasoline per mil and the battery is promised 8 mil per charge.( Which has not been fully tested . )

The idea was that Smits would be as a finished prototype already in 2009 but due to the financial crisis that has Vehiconomics forced to postpone some of their plans.
